Aloha, Bienvenue, Welcome...
Aloha and Welcome to Pu'uhonua Kaupo...
Located in one of the most pristine areas on Maui, Pu'uhonua, for which in the ancient language means; Sanctuary, a place of refuge, Peace and Safety. This property provides a unique combination of solitude, raw nature, grand vistas, luxury and high tech ammenities for our family, friends and business associates. You can feel totally apart from the world, yet still be connected to it if you choose.
Our power comes from the sun and our water from the clouds, bringing us more in touch with nature and our selves. Unlike many areas of Maui, little has changed in our neighborhood over the years. Kaupo still has an active cowboy economy and there are still many more cows than human. With no direct neighbors, the sounds that you'll hear are: wind, surf and birds. This land itself abounds with relics of the ancient Hawaiin fishing village that prospered here as far back as 1200 year ago and echos their spirit.
Situated 135ft. above sea level, one can sit on the deck with a 160 degree ocean view and watch the whales go by or view the snow capped peaks of the Big Island. Haleakala (house of the sun), a 10,023ft dormant volcano forming the bulk of Maui, dominates the view landward and becomes a beautiful canvas for the colors of the rising and setting sun. It is also often decorated with strings of waterfalls. Most of the water from those falls collects in Manawainui Stream, which flows seasonally through the property and thunders over a stunning waterfall of our own before reaching the sea.
The Seven Sacred Pools are just a stunning half hour drive away and the white sand beaches of Hana not far beyond that. One can hike, bike or swim, go for a horseback ride, sightsee or just relax. For nightlife, enjoy some of the best stargazing in the world, due to one of the darkest skies available.
